I'll be taking the Inktober challenge this year, posting one ink drawing a day for the month of October. Follow my Instagram account to see each drawing.

Birdsongs softly call

Birdsongs softly call
My lover from bed to see
How wonders take flight.

At some point, all creatives have faced a block. Moving past it can be a daunting task. I know, because I've been there. Join me for a workshop on process where you can learn about how I work, share your techniques, learn new methods, and get creating! I look forward to seeing you there. :) Bring a sketchbook, something to write with, and a camera/ camera phone.

Con·tex·ture: Fresh Exhibitions Fellowship

I'm excited to announce I received a Fresh Exhibitions Fellowship and will have a solo show, Con-tex-ture, later this month through December. Con-tex-ture invites viewers into visual environments for the mind to wander, discover, and create. Featuring all-new multimedia fine art, the exhibition will showcase my latest personal explorations.

Life, a paragraph

Life, a paragraph
Punctuated by laughter,
sorrow, and the wind.

Each breath--miracle

A final gasp drawn.
Silence breaks with new life’s cry.
Each breath--miracle.

Manicured lawns

Manicured lawns crunch
Under the sweltering heat.
Perceived perfection.

Beside you

Beside you, I could wander forever,
Sail across the ocean of life to bring dreams ashore.
Beside you, worlds of conversation breathe calmly into the atmosphere,
Landing upon soft hearts and open minds.
Beside you, pride and humility join our pace;
There is comfort in who we are and gratitude for what we have.
Beside you, nearness can be found even in distance.
Adventure brought us together and strengthens us to this day.
My partner, my friend, my lover, my family, my forever,
Beside you, you will find me.

The clocks stopped

The clocks stopped. Boxes
packed, gone. Chasing the sun home,
I beg it to stay.

Present everyday

Present everyday,
In my heart I find you there.
A safe place called home.

Heat against my back.

Heat against my back.
Scents flood the air with summer,
Childhood memories.

Today, the rain cries with me (a poem)

Today, the rain cries with me

Today, the rain cries with me.
Tears upon panes wash away the dirt, the hurt.

Thousands of drops, memories, splash against the cracked surface,
Bringing to life the sediment.
Sentiments displayed upon walls echo down, silently.

Of course there is hope; there is always hope.
Yet the shadows of clouds hang heavily, heavenly.

Tomorrow, perhaps we’ll see clarity, spring greens, and sunshine.
But for today, the rain cries with me,
Company I am grateful for, as I gaze through the mist.

Presenter at SCAD Career Fair 2014

I was asked by SCAD to speak as a panelist, sharing business tips and stories about what it's like to work for myself. We had about 100-125 students who asked fantastic questions.
